Bursaries


We will keep you informed of possible funding sources to support your attendance at the School of Sound.

 

Full-Time Students

A limited number of bursaries for full-time students have been made available to use towards the fee for a place at the School of Sound. These funds will reduce the fee by 50% to £135 (including VAT).

To apply for one of these bursaries, please send a personal statement of 200-300 words explaining what you are studying, your work experience and how you will benefit from attending the School of Sound. Also include

UK – ScreenSkills

ScreenSkills, the UK organisation providing resources for training and screen education, currently has 3 bursaries available for training to qualifying applicants. For each scheme you may apply for a percentage of the fees, travel and accommodation costs of your training. These are open to UK freelancers (in England, Scotland, Wales and NI):

  • Film Bursaries For Film bursaries you may apply for up to 80% of the combined fees, travel and accommodation costs of your training (including childcare costs if applicable), up to a maximum of £800 inclusive of VAT. Go to GUIDELINES for more information.
  • High-end TV Drama Bursaries For High-end TV Drama bursaries you may apply for up to 80% of the combined fees, travel and accommodation costs of your training (including childcare costs if applicable), up to a maximum of £1000 inclusive of VAT. Go to GUIDELINES for more information
  • TV Diversity Bursaries For TV Diversity bursaries you may apply for the fees, travel and accommodation costs of your training (including costs related to carer responsibilities), up to a maximum of £1000 inclusive of VAT. Go to GUIDELINES for more information

Make sure to read and understand the eligibility requirements in order to choose the right bursary for you.

First you will need to register for a place at the School of Sound. Then we will provide a letter for ScreenSkills supporting your application.

Please note that if you are successful in obtaining a bursary, ScreenSkills will pay you in two stages, giving you only 50% in advance and the remainder after proof of attendance at the School of Sound. However, the School of Sound requires you to pay the full fee in advance of the event.
