MA Filmmaking (Sound Recording & Design)

Goldsmiths is now accepting applications for their expanded MA Filmmaking degree offering Sound Recording and Design alongside pathways in Directing Fiction, Producing, Screen Documentary, Cinematography, and Editing. The course will be taught by Larry Sider of the School of Sound.
MA in Filmmaking (Sound Recording & Design)
This MA will consolidate your audio skills as a film and television sound recordist and designer, developing your sound storytelling skills through targeted workshops and their subsequent application in the context of practical filmmaking projects.

This newly-expanded Masters takes the concept of the university-taught media MA to the next level. It offers specialised film, television and multi-platform industry training and unique opportunities to produce films in a creative atmosphere alongside other media and arts professionals working in gallery art, theatre and social media. MA Filmmaking students also study and critique existing forms and trends, as well as benefit from an invaluable year-long mentorship with an individual or company within the industry. The Screen School enjoys dynamic relations with all sectors of the media industries, film, television, web, multi-platform whether it be mainstream, indie or activist film making.
The Screen School is located within the Department of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, known world-wide for its creativity with alumni such as artists Steve McQueen and Sam Taylor-Johnson. Currently the department is the UK’s highest-rated for media research in the national Research Excellence Framework (REF) and leads the field with its inter-disciplinary approach and its creative and critical work.
