François Musy: Sound, Direct Sound and Godard

Musy is best known for his work with Jean-Luc Godard. Starting with Passion in 1983, until this video was made in 2003, he produced most of Godard’s soundtracks including Hail Mary, In Praise of Love and the masterful Nouvelle Vague, which has been released on CD by ECM. In this interview, Musy outlines his ideas about ‘direct sound’ in relation to Godard’s soundtracks.
